Me as a Teacher
I started teaching at the age of 17 , helping others who would like to know more about the bible. When I moved abroad at the age of 22 I volunteered at a local school teaching to lower intermediate children. Later, when I moved back to the states I decided to continue English teaching , through Italki. Here I was able to have a platform where I can use my ESL knowledge and help many people feel confident in the English language!My lessons & teaching style
Many of my students are amazing parents,lawyer, managers, government officials and I work on my lessons to be lively ! I like to focus on everyday usage of the English language as they may use it in school, at work and with family ! I know Grammar, Phonics and Vocabulary are the building blocks to English . I first focus on being skilled at basics through Warm-ups, activities and Dialogue and once students graduate we can focus on learning the English language with literature and poetry! I want my lessons to be fun but educational!

In an official speaking test administered by the British Council, responsible for IELTS, I received a band score of 6.5. I had felt stuck at this level for quite some time. Thankfully, Jackie came to my aid. With her insight into the interview exam, she proved invaluable. However, it was Jackie's unwavering dedication and commitment to her students' success that truly stood out. Under her guidance, I achieved an IELTS band score of 8.0 in speaking and an overall score of 7.5. I booked my first class with Jackie to prepare myself for a job interview. She totally understood my situation, gave me many tips and a great drill.
A few days later, on my interview, one of the first question made by the interviewer was exactly the same from our class, and I was prepared! I really felt confident enough to run the whole interview and share with them my background.
I got the job, move with my family from Brazil to South Korea, starting with the right foot my biggest professional step.

I had a bit of a break from English and was feeling insecure, but Jackie gave me confidence and encouragement. We talked throughout the lesson and she understood me and I understood her, which is one of the aims of my learning.
