I’ve been one of Erika’s students for a while now. I have to say that she is in the upper echelon in her field. In my experience she can quickly diagnose a student’s strengths and weaknesses and individualize her curriculum to meets the specific needs of each student. She provides her students with homework, such as written exercises, podcasts, books, articles, and videos, to introduce new concepts or reinforce previous lessons. Her ability to communicate in both Spanish and English is impeccable, she can effortlessly switch back and forth between languages. She is always prepared for class. She consistently has a lesson plan prepared ahead of time but will quickly adjust on the fly if the student has questions about a different topic. During my journey to learn Spanish I have at times become discouraged, but Erika has always been able to motivate me to continue moving forward. In closing If you’re searching for a language professor, I can’t recommend Erika highly enough.

Erika is an absolutely fantastic teacher, and you should book with her immediately! That’s the headline. Now, some details… I waited until I had 5 lessons with Erika before writing this review, so it could give you a more complete picture of what working with her is like. I am working with a number of teachers and tutors on iTalki. Not all have worked out, but Erika was a lock from our first lesson together. Of all of my teachers, she has the best English and the most advanced ability to associate Spanish phrases to their equivalents in English. Most teachers can do this when it comes to the basics, (food, travel, etc.); when it comes to business Spanish, striking the proper tone, replacing American idioms — that’s where the high level knowledge comes in. She has taught Spanish in embassies, which ought to tell you about her skill. On top of all that, Erika is a patient and helpful teacher, and the lessons are a lot of fun! The time flies by. I've had the pleasure of working with Erika since my journey began at the upper beginner's level and I must say, my proficiency in Spanish has seen remarkable growth under her guidance. Thanks to Erika's support, I've gained a newfound confidence in speaking Spanish, with much of my language proficiency owing to her expertise and dedication. Erika is amazing! She made me feel comfortable right away and took note of my learning goals. During our conversation, she typed out my corrections while I was speaking, which is exactly what I need! She was very collaborative about what our lessons would look like and transitioned fluidly between conversation and teaching grammar. She is incredibly professional and calm. I look forward to working with her for the long-term to reach proficiency in the Spanish language.

I really like working with Erika. She quickly assessed my level and tailored sessions and homework to help me improve the most. She allows me time to fix my own mistakes or figure things out, but knows when to jump in to help.

Erika is great. I’m a slow learner, but she does a great job of keeping me moving forward nonetheless. :)
