I'm a psychology student living in Uppsala, Sweden, and I enjoy nature, friends, working out, and a variety of creative hobbies (it comes and goes in periods). Chances are good that we'll have something in common to talk about! An interest that's always persisted, is my fondness for language learning, and I speak Swedish, English, French, Dutch and some Spanish. My relative understanding of these languages puts me in a great position to be extra pedagogical with learners who have them as their native language. In the future I also wish to learn German, Italian and Persian, among others.Me as a Teacher
Something that I put a lot of store on is the importance of daring to make mistakes and practicing talking. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t start using the language straight away. It was in this way that I learnt my Spanish, by talking daily to a very wise Mexican man, who pushed me to use Spanish to the greatest extent possible, which is a lot further than most people do, due to fear of mistakes and of taking too much time thinking. Because of this, I got to a good conversation level extremely quickly. In the beginning, the conversations may be simple and a bit silly, but it’s very rewarding to see how much you can actually express when you’re gently nudged out of the comfort zone.My lessons & teaching style
As you might gather from the text above, my lessons are primarily conversation based. However, I also have a book containing exercises with Swedish grammar, which is something that will come in great handy for beginners and intermediate Swedish learners. I'm also equally keen on helping more advanced learners with their Swedish. For me, it's important that you have a say in the learning process, so the lessons might vary from person to person. We'll discuss goals and the desired learning methods (focus on grammar or not, for example) on our first lesson. If you want a teacher that will challenge you, but who also provides a safe learning environment, we're likely to be a good match!My teaching material
