About Me

I am a native Luo and Swahili speaker with a passion for teaching languages. I am Advocate of the High Court of Kenya professionally, based in Nairobi, Kenya. My home town is Kisumu, Kenya and my favourite meal is fish(samaki in swahili and rech in luo) and ugali (swahili) kuon(luo). I love to play board games, especially Chess and to learn new languages. I am currently learning the Slovene language as well as German. My interest in teaching was born out of the language barrier between my international legal clients who sought to set up business within the country and with the locals without the need for an interpreter or language barrier. This made interaction and business easy for them.Me as a Teacher
I am free spirit, I prefer my classes to be interactive and very lively. My background in law has allowed me to interact with people of various ethnic extractions including clients from Europe at large and the United States and I am therefore free to interact with everyone. I am looking forward to having lovely experiences with my students and tutelages.My lessons & teaching style
I will use charts, flashcards, videos, notes and powerpoint presentations for my classes. I give students ample time to master course content as I am aware that learning needs patience. Learning will be virtual through iTalki and will take the style of interactions. I will also invite guest teachers who are also professional experts in Swahili and Luo as a bonus from time to time to engage the students and do follow ups on the course contents.My teaching material

With Maurice time flies by quickly. We learnt a lot of new words today and he also introduced a very nice friend of his to me who practised a few sentences with me too. That was really very kind of both of them.

Maurice is a very nice and smart person. He is also very patient and excellent at explaining the meaning of words in a comprehensible way. We covered some basics and talked about how we are going to structure our lessons. I look forward to more classes with Maurice.
