Hey there! I’m Simay. My native language is Turkish and I’m pretty confident in English as my second language. I've recently graduated from university with a bachelor's degree in Comparative Literature and Arts and Culture Management. Currently, I'm working as a translator and an editor. I have a passion for literature, philosophy, and contemporary art. I love learning languages and exploring their connections to culture. I even created a fictional visual language of my own called Ovilırs!Me as a Teacher
I recently had to give a break to Italki due to my internship, and now continuing with the lessons!
As a tutor, I give importance to keeping my lessons interesting by using a variety of resources that incorporates different skills needed in learning a language (reading, writing, listening, speaking). Being a language learner myself, I always look for tips and techniques that make learning easier and more fun. As your tutor, I make sure that you realize your mistakes, know how to work on them, and gain better control over language step-by-step. I aim to make this whole process as natural and enjoyable as possible, without making you feel overwhelmed.My lessons & teaching style
The lessons are customized to you as a learner and I am, accordingly, very flexible in terms of teaching. So you can prefer to have a more relaxed conservation practice or structured tutoring, but in any case, I’ll make sure that you reach your goals by providing you with relevant and effective tools and guidance.
In the classroom, I make use of presentations, videos, and interactive activities. I also like to use pop culture, popular TV series, songs, and films, as well as talking about current events and discussing/debating challenging topics! Overall, each of my lessons focuses on a conversation topic that interests you and includes new material introduced and practiced with you.My teaching material

I love lessons with Simay due to the great balance between having fun and education. She chooses various interesting topics to discuss and knows how to keep the flow of a lesson. Simay uses games, videos and other tools for teaching, so it is never boring and I always look forward to another lesson with her. I must praise her for correcting my mistakes and for giving me advice. Also I got some homeworks. 🙂 I recommend her to everybody! 👍
