Description du cours

This is lesson number two of the Deep Cultural Conversation series. There is no requirement to take lessons in order; each lesson is independent of the other and can be taken non-sequentially. Keep track of which you have taken; new lessons will be added each week. Today's lesson will focus on the idea of a globalized village and society. Do we truly live in a world dominated by globalization, or has culture become attenuated and assimilated by other cultures? We will explore through several authors the points of view and impacts (positive and negative) and discuss these in correlation to our countries or observations. A set of guiding questions has been provided with the lesson's reading and listening. However, do not feel limited to only engaging with the texts provided. Personal experience is often where students will begin to express more native-like English. Remember, there are no right or wrong answers, all answers are respected in our online classroom. This class is a high-level critical thinking class that will engage your thoughts and stretches your syntax usage while you attempt to justify or explain your opinions. Corrections will be provided throughout when necessary. This class is modeled after my comparative literature series taught at the university level; come prepared to learn and express in our open environment.

Après ce cours en groupe, vous saurez

Students will learn to define major topics of cultural assimilation, attenuation, and globalization through reading, listening, and classroom engagement questions. Students will leave feeling confident in their expressions and learn to engage in an academic setting with critical thought and argument justification.
