Hello everyone, and welcome to my short story collection series. You are embarking on a journey of literary discovery, focusing on high-level discussions centered around engaging texts set from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and the United States. These stories are a mix of classic and modern classics, having stood the test of time, and are a testament to their historical underpinnings. Each story is different, with different undertones. Reading and discussing these stories in context to the provided discussion questions will help grow your advanced English. As your host, I am to teach these classes how I conduct my university courses. Please be respectful of all views in the classroom. Let's enjoy our time together!

The following are general objectives achieved in each class. While this is meant for refining your English language skills, the stories and ideas presented here are also excellent training for IELTS, TOIEC, TOFEL, and EIKEN, among other tests. 1. Students will learn to analyze texts by employing culturally specific references, applying literary theories, and identifying literary elements such as symbolism and metaphor. 2. Students will learn to parse information in texts characterized by a wide range of language, complex grammar structures, and advanced vocabulary. 3. Students will learn to recognize and articulate the influence of historical and cultural contexts on literary works from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and the United States. 4. Students will learn to formulate and defend interpretations of texts through evidence-based arguments and critical thinking. 5. Students will learn to actively engage in discussions, demonstrating respect for diverse opinions 6. Students will learn to draw connections between literary themes and contemporary issues, effectively relating textual studies to real-world contexts. 7. Students will learn to exhibit a sustained interest in literature, seeking out and engaging with a variety of literary genres and styles on their own initiative.

I have worked as a teacher for the past three years while developing my teaching skills through the completion of an MATESOL and enrolling in a doctoral degree in curriculum design and instruction. I have enjoyed working with a variety of ages, from children to adults. In addition to my master's degree, I also hold a teaching license from the state of Massachusetts (Grades 5-12) and have worked with the board of education in Japan for the past year. My top priority as an instructor is to see you grow, developing the skills you need to achieve your success.
