The Word-Start Clusters Lab: Ischool, Istation and the Little Extra Vowel | Understanding Indian English #030

Description
English loves to start words with S plus another consonant: "school", "station", "speak", "small", "street", "student", "special". Many Indian languages do not start words this way. So some speakers add a short "i" before the S, and "school" becomes "ischool". What you will learn: • Why the extra vowel appears • Two-consonant clusters • Three-consonant clusters • Sl, SM, SN and SW • Real vowels versus added vowels • Other ways of easing a cluster (less common) • When you will hear it most • Practice: decode the sentence • Listening strategies • Self-check questions to test your ear Level: B1–B2. Self-study: listen, then take the quizzes. Audio voiced with AI from an original script by Dr. Rashmi R Nair.
