こんにちは。今日は8月5日月曜日です。「5分でわかる日本語」ポッドキャストへようこそ。私は日本語の先生、みわです。今日は、「使用（しよう）」と「利用（りよう）」の違いについてお話しします。

まず、「使用」について説明します。「使用」は、物を使うことを意味します。例えば、「このペンを使用してください。」という文を作ることができます。

次に、「利用」についてです。「利用」は、何か目的のためにサービスなどを使うことを意味します。例えば、「このバスを利用してください。」という文を作ることができます。

ここで、少し考えてみましょう。「このバスを使用してください。」と「このバスを利用してください。」どちらも日本語としては正しいです。でも、どう違うのでしょうか？

「このバスを使用してください。」という文は、そのままの意味で、バスに乗るという行動に注目しています。道具として、移動する方法として、使っています。

一方、「このバスを利用してください。」という文は、他に別の目的があって、そのためにバスに乗る行動をしてくださいという意味です。たとえば、コンサート会場に行くためかもしれません。旅行に行くためかもしれません。

また、「使用」は物に対して使うことが多く、「利用」はサービスなどに対して使うことが多いです。
	1.	「このペンを使用してください。」これは、ペンという物に対して使っています。
	2.	「このサービスを利用してください。」という文は、物ではなく、サービスを使うことを指しています。
状況によって使い分けることが大切です。

ここで、皆さんに問題です。「この図書館を＿＿してください。」この「なになに」に入る正しい言葉はどれですか？
	1.	使用
	2.	利用
	3.	使用と利用の両方
正解は「3. 使用と利用の両方」です。「使用」は、図書館で本を借りることができるという事実として使うことができます。「利用」は、他の目的、つまり調べたいことがあったり、勉強する場所として使ったりできるということを考えてます。

Whether you live to work or you work to live, having a healthy work-life balance is good for both you and your employer.

Here are just a few ways to keep your balance healthy!

Plan
It can help to plan your time, making sure to include social activities in those plans, says Allaya Cooks-Campbell from job coaching website BetterUp.

Even scheduling a night in front of the TV is enough — it will give you a bit of time to switch off.

If you're able to, you could also plan to take short breaks during the day, and perhaps even use them to take a walk or read a few pages of a book.

Use apps to help
Cooks-Campbell also suggests using an app to block distracting websites during the work day — which might include things like social media.

You can then do the same in the evening and block work apps, if you find it difficult to stop checking them.

Be kind to yourself
It's important to be realistic about your work-life balance, and not to get too stressed if you don't follow your plan. That's according to Kate Eby from work management company Smartsheet.

Being kind to yourself, she says, can help you improve your mental health.

Talk to your boss
If you're finding it difficult to get your work-life balance right, speaking to your manager may be a good idea — although not everyone will feel comfortable doing this.

It may be that you have been given too much work to do, or there is a better way to do it — and talking to your boss could help you work smarter, not harder.

However, Cooks-Campbell says different things work for different people — so you have to find what's right for you!
