How to Get Better At Anything, Including Getting A Job
Description
Do you know how to get better at anything? Athletes do. They work with a coach.
You don’t have to try to get better at something on your own--a coach can help! Surgeon Atul Gawande says in a popular Ted Talk, "Great coaches are your external eyes and ears, providing a more accurate picture of your reality."
Some people seek out coaches proactively. They hire a professional coach to help with their resume, cover letter, LinkedIn Profile, and interview responses before they ever apply for a job. These people undoubtedly get jobs quicker because they hired a coach. However, the majority of people wait too long to get a coach, only seeking out help after a period of failure.
In this Express to Impress Podcast episode, you will learn different approaches to bet better at something and the tremendous career opportunities from working with a coach. You’ll hear how others’ lives have been enriched by working with coaches. I talk about my experience working coaches in Brazil and the US. You’ll also hear a story about one of my clients - an engineer in Taiwan who enlisted my help after trying and failing to get a job for years. You will find out what type of professional coaches exist and how they can help you. If you want to increase your English vocabulary, continue listening to the end, where you’ll hear definitions of five idioms and phrases that came up during the episode.
Episode originally published on August 14, 2020.
