Following a verb, both 一下 ((yí xià, lit. “once”) and(一)点儿 ({yì} diǎnr “a bit”) can soften the tone in a question or an imperative sentence, therefore making it more polite. When used in this way, 一下(yí xià) modifies the verb, while(一)点儿 ({yì} diǎnr) modifies the object.

For example:
nǐ kàn yí xià ， zhè shì shuí de zhào piàn ？ 
你看一下，这是谁的照片？   Take a look. Whose photo is this?

nǐ xiǎnɡ chī diǎnr shén me ？ 
你想吃点儿什么？       What would you like to eat?

nǐ jìn lái yí xià 。 
你进来一下。Come in for a minute.

wǒ men hē yì diǎnr chá bɑ 。 
我们喝一点儿茶吧。  Have a little tea.

qǐnɡ nǐ kāi yí xià mén 。 
请你开一下门。   Please open the door.

「ます形」を使う表現についての第２回目
前回紹介した動詞の「ます形」を使った表現は
ひるごはんを　たべましょう。
ひるごはんを　たべませんか。
ひるごはんを　たべにいきます。
ひるごはんを　たべたいです
ひるごはんを　たべましょうか。　でした。

今回は動詞のます形を使った表現を４つ紹介します。
①	「ながら」②「すぎます」③「やすいです」④「にくいです」

①	「ながら」 ひとりの人が二つのことを同時にすることを表します。
あさご飯を食べながら、新聞（しんぶん）を読みます。
I read the newspaper while eating breakfast.
たべます＋ながら→たべながら

音楽（おんがく）を聞きながら、宿題をしています。
I’m doing homework while listening to music.
ききます＋ながら→ききながら

②	「すぎます」　ちょうどいい線を超えていると言いたいときに使う。
きのう　パーティーで　飲みすぎました。
I drank too much at the party yesterday.
のみます＋すぎます→のみすぎます

あるきすぎて、足がいたいです。
My feet hurt from walking too much.
あるきます＋すぎます→あるきすぎます

③	やすいです　　なにかをするのが　かんたんだという意味です。
このペンは　書きやすいです。
This pen is easy to write with.
かきます＋やすいです→かきやすいです

このタブレットは使いやすいです。
This tablet is easy to use.
つかいます＋やすいです→つかいやすいです

④	にくいです　　なにかをするのが　むずかしいという意味
これは大きすぎて、食べにくいですね。
This is too big and difficult to eat.
たべます＋にくいです→たべにくいです。

雨で洗濯物がかわきにくいです。
Laundry is hard to dry in the rain.
かわきます＋にくいです→かわきにくいです。
