Hi,guys. Do you have tipping culture (custom) in your country? In Japan, tipping isn’t customary. I think that it’s a minority group in the world like us, so we don’t used to it and don’t know well. I wonder that it’s annoying to count for a tip every single situation.

In South Africa it's customary to tip 10% (and more if the service is extra good). We're used to it, so we don't find it annoying. I like to give Uber drivers their 10% and a cold drink if it's a hot day and we'll drink it on the way to my destination 🌈🌞 Why is there no tipping culture in Japan? Are service workers well-paid? Is it considered impolite?

I can't speak for Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom, or any other English speaking country, but in the United States tipping is heavily encouraged. It's not mandatory, but it is customary to do so because of how (depending on the state) servers don't make full minimum wage and have to make the rest of their wages through tips.

Actually we have it. We usually tip waiters and taxi drivers.

In South Africa it is customary to leave a 10% tip, although it can vary depending on how good the service was. Depending on the restuarant or bar the tips will then be split between all serving staff at the end of the day or each person will take home their own tips. I can be a bit frustrating to always add a tip, especially if you are splitting the bill. Inevitably someone will under tip and someone else may need to make up the difference.

Haha! When I visited Japan, I left a tip in a restaurant, and the waitress followed me down the street to give the money back to me.
