Help with relative clauses, please! š
Hi! I have to do an exercise where I need to correct mistakes in sentences with relative clauses, and there are a few that Iām having trouble with. These are the ones Iām not sure about.
1. The project, which was announced last year, is now in its final stages.
2. The painting, whose creator is unknown, was discovered in an abandoned house.
3. The teacher, who I have been following for years, has just published a new paper on cognitive science.
4. The conference, which we attended last week, was a huge success.
5. The book, whose title I can't remember, was incredibly moving.
6. The papers, that I need to review, are on my desk.
7. The director, whose team is currently working on the new film, will be attending the event.
8. The museum, which houses rare artifacts from ancient Egypt, is one of the most visited places in the city.
9. The professor, who I find very inspiring, has made some groundbreaking discoveries.
Are they actually wrong? Should they be defining clauses specifying the noun? Because to me they seem fine ā I guess it depends on the context, but thatās the only possible issue I can spot. Or are there other mistakes Iām missing?
I also have doubts regarding the next sentence:
The woman, whom I shared a taxi with, told me she had recently moved to the city.
The given correction is the following: The woman with whom I shared a taxi told me she had recently moved to the city.
But I though the preposition could go before the relative pronoun or as in the first sentence. Is it wrong?
Thank you so much in advance š„°
