What is the difference between "deep" and "deeply" as adverbs?
For instance:
(1) The doctor asked me to breathe deep/deeply.
(2) The meeting continued deep/deeply into the night.
(3) I am deep/deeply grateful to you.
Thank you very much ~

In #3 you must say “deeply” because an adverb is needed to modify an adjective. However, “breathe deep” is accepted, though it is wrong. The listener interprets it as “take a deep breath”. The adjective modifies an invisible noun.
