As Xin says, the difference in those two aspects is minimal with verbs that are sort of in-between stative and dynamic, typically representing what we do with *most of our time*. For example: to study, work, live (in a place), etc.

Good question...in simple terms it's very much about the FOCUS of the speaker and the CONTEXT of the conversation.
Basically this is the rule:
Past simple👉specific finished time.
"I went to the supermarket this morning" ( This morning is the focus)
Present perfect👉general facts & info related to now. "I've been to the supermarket". ( The focus is now...I have food in the house...not when it happened).
To be honest, native speakers often mix these up! 🫢✌️
