Enseignant professionnelš¹ Grammar That Clicks: The Secret Behind āUsed toā and āBe Used toā
A lot of learners tell me: "I get confused between 'used to' and 'be used to'... they seem the same!"
Hereās the simple key š:
Used to + verb = A past habit that you donāt do anymore.
ā”ļø I used to live in Spain. (I donāt anymore.)
Be used to + noun/verb-ing = You are comfortable with something.
ā”ļø Iām used to waking up early. (It feels normal to me now.)
š§ Quick Tip: When you see ābe,ā think about your state (how you feel).
When you see just āused to,ā think about your actions (what you did).
