What is the rule for constructing the second part of a sentence when describing a hypothetical situation in the past? Here are some examples: “What if she would have said so that everyone (would have) heard?”, “Yesterday, It would have depended on how he (would have) expounded his thoughts”, “A year ago, the teacher would have respected her because she would have known English well”. I'm not sure if the last one is correct; perhaps the only correct option is “A year ago, the teacher would have respected her if she had known English well”. In general, the question is whether it is necessary to duplicate the structure “would have + V3” in the second part of the sentences, use the simple past tense, or use something else?
