Hi Shia! In that context, it means to grasp and pull something abruptly from its place. I really like the sentence!

I don’t have enough context to fully understand that phrase but to pluck is to Take hold of something and quickly remove it Eg plucking a hair out of your head. You can also use it to describe quickly removing someone from a situation or place. You can also use it to describe musicians playing string instruments with their fingers or a plectrum. A harpist can pluck at the strings of their harp to make music for example.
