Well, making friends online has its own advantages and disadvantages. Talking about the pros first, if you are able to find good people, then being friends with them won't cause any harm at all. Especially during Covid, people were getting a lot of help through social media during their tough times. Italki is another good example where a lot of people are benefitting by making friends with their teachers/tutors, which allows them to become a native speaker in the language they prefer to learn. On the flip side, if they get caught in the wrong part of the net, then everything goes downhill. Instead of being friends, they will list their whole life. So, I don’t prefer to make friends online. Being safe is always good.
