What does "sweeping mobility" mean in this sentence? "Sometimes in the evening the mutes would play chess. The Greek never got on to the erratic movements of the knights and the sweeping mobility of the queens, but he learned to make a few set, opening moves."

Sweeping means wide in range and mobility means ability to move. The author is saying that the queen has a lots of legal moves in the game of chess. The Greek, however, was never fully able to master these moves.
