For Hindi learners

मैं जानना चाहता हूँ कि लोग मेरे देश (इंडिया/भारत) के बारे में क्या अभिप्राय रखते हैं?

(I wish to know people's perspective about my country India)

आप हिन्दी क्यूँ सीखना चाहते हैं?

(Why you wish to Learn Hindi)

It's for Hindi learners and I will be glad to hear different perspectives about my country. Better If you try answering it in Hindi but it's no compulsion though. Feel free to comment :)..

Main amerikaa se hoon. Main hindee seekh rahee hoon. Since I am only just beginning, I have to switch to English. I love India. The people whom I know in this country who came from your country are mostly friendly. Some of them are less open. But I believe it is because so many Americans are suspicious of people from that part of the world right now. I am not one of those people. I have a pretty good understanding of your culture, I think. Some of the Hindu beliefs still confuse me, but that is a whole other discussion. I find that people in all parts of the world are more alike than we are different. I find that India is a very beautiful country, especially outside of the cities. The Himalayan mountains are glorious and I like the scenery of Tamil. I feel so badly for the people of Chennai with all of the flooding there. I would love to visit India but I am still afraid to try. I feel like terrorist threats are worse there than here and I fear the human traffickers. I don't think they would bother with me because I am old and fat. But fear is not a reasonable thing.

The reason that I am learning Hindi is that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Hindi film and music. I want to be able to watch films without having to read the dialogue. Also, some translators do not stick to what is actually being said, something I have discovered since learning a little bit of Hindi. Also, there are many interviews with my favorite actors on YouTube that have no English translation. I would like to know what is being said. I joined italki because I cannot find answers to some translation questions because the dictionaries do not to conjugations of verbs. For instance, I want to know what verb does "kehna" and "kehta" come from and what does "loon" mean. I cannot find this information online. The way that I learn sentence structure in a new language is to learn the way that native speakers think. I already speak Spanish and this was the most helpful for me to learn to form my own sentences correctly, the way that native speakers do. By learning the translation word for word and also the meaning of the sentence, I learn the thought patterns of the language. I don't know if you understand what I mean, but this is how I learn.

I hope to learn so much here and make lasting friendships.

मुझे यह जानकार बड़ी प्रसन्नता हुई कि आपको हिन्दी गाने बहुत पसंद हैं । मैं चाहूँगा कि आप इसी तरह मेहनत करते रहिए और मेरी आशा हैं की आप जल्द से जल्द हिन्दी में अनुवाद करना सीख लेंगी।
