Some students are very kind and very generous... Plus a suggestion from an italki teacher I'm an italki English teacher.
Recently I received an email from italki indicating that a student had sent me an italki Gift Card. The student did that to compensate me for a session that lasted two hours longer than had been scheduled. I did not expect to be compensated for the extra time.
However, I cannot use the Gift Card at this time because I am not currently learning another language and thus will not be able to use the Gift Card credits.
I've spoken with the student and we both agree that it would be best to cancel the Gift Card and refund the ITCs to the student's account.
Once the student has been re-funded, he will then book another teaching session with me.

I truly appreciate the student's kind offer, however Gift Cards (and the ITCs) cannot be credited to the teacher's account.

If you are student and if you wish to show your appreciation to a teacher, it would be best to simply schedule a lesson (that the student and teacher will not attend) and then the teacher will receive the ITCs in their teacher's account.

As I said... "Some students are very kind and very generous", and I am honestly quite impressed with many of italki's students.

Bill... Sudeep... and Masy

I just want to let you all know that I always give you good people a thumbs up, but it seems that someone cancels the thumbs up for no good reason that I can think of... oh well...

Sudeep...

Thank you for your very kind comments.

Sometimes compliments and kind words are worth much more than money or gold.

One small comment: the noun support is usually an uncountable noun (like help, information and advice, etc.) so it rarely has a plural form.  Oh.... crazy English :)

It does not surprise me at all the fact that your student was grateful and pleased with your classes.

I think you are an excellent professional and a devoted teacher, who adapts the activities and materials to the students' needs, and spend a lot of time not only preparing the classes but doing them (if the class is 1 hour long you do not mind staying longer if it is needed).

I am glad to know that there are people who still show their gratitude to those who deserve it.

My purpose in writing this discussion was simply to help others make a kind jesture that could have been made using a different method. I hope the readers will understand my suggestion.

Richard, your English is usually so impeccable that when I saw ¨jesture¨ I had to go look it up and see if that was correct British spelling.  Is that a typo?  Or did you mean this? http://www.verbotomy.com/verbottle.php?jargonism_id=21469
