Most neutral spanish accent?

Hello, in about a week I want to start learning Spanish and I was wondeirng which accent sounds the most neutral? On google I read a lot about the colombian accent. Could someone advice me a few countries that are considered to have a "normal" accent? For example, is there a specific accent that is heard a lot on the radio/news/dub (in tv shows?)

What about the accent from Madrid? Or Venezuela/Mexico?


Any tips are much appreciated, thank you!

What do you mean with "neutral accent"? I think that the most important thing for you now should be to learn Spanish. If you ask here for an opinion, obviously everybody would opt for their own accent. At the end, you are going to have your own accent since you are not a native speaker.

Hello Rein:

The thing is "neutral" is not an easy word to say beacuse hipanic people is going to go crazy. It is like if you ask for the most "european" country in europe...

Jokes aside, in my opinion your question have two answers:

Are you learning spanish from Spain?, then you already know the answer. Many foreing people will prefer to learn spanish accent because they`re gonna stay there for a while or maybe forever, or they just like it. 

In Latin America it is the colombian's the most paused and also formal and after them, I think it is the people in Lima - Peru (it is more flat, not many entonations, also paused), the venezuelans (paused and sounds good), and some mexicans (Just a few!). Any other latin american country will speak faster and/or will use more colloquialisms.

Another facts:

We, the latin americans don't like spanish people accent and neither they like ours. This happens with the movies, when they are released for theathers most of the translations (audio re-recordings) are made for spanish people, the latin americans, and sometimes also for the argentinians

They say people from Bogota have the most desirable accent in Latin America, the second one seems to be Lima; myself I love Madrid accent and that's what I would love to always sound like, anyway we all come from where we come from and where we live it does affect our accents but accents in Spanish are not that different that they could be in Portuguese or English, from my experience I can tell that learning Spanish from phonetics point of view is really a good investment as once you learn it you will be able to communicate with all Spanish native speakers around the world - sometimes it's more about slang words - then I would recommend to learn Spanish from somebody who lives in the country you wish travel to or live in; otherwise, If you don't plan to go to specific country please feel free to choose any Italki teacher of your choice and don't be shy to contact me - I teach Spanish as well :)

I think accent from Venezuelan is more neutral.
