Hi there!
I'm planning to learn a bit of northern Sami but I'm really struggling to find ressources. The only one I have for the moment is a children book that I bought last summer in Jokkmokk.
If you know any ressources (online or books) made to learn northern sami from english (or french or spanish), please tell me. That would be really nice from you ^^
I'll be working in Abisko (scientific research station) this summer, so I was thinking that maybe I would be able to go to Jokkmokk or another bigger place to maybe find something, so if you have recommendation for that point too, I'll be happy :)
Thanks in advance
Bures, how is your Sami progressing? A Finnish friend brought this to my attention, and I thought you might be interested. Apparently it's very good:
I haven't properly studied any of the Sami languages myself, but I know of a few resources.
Here you can find some information and a list of resources: www.omniglot.com/writing/northernsami.htm
And there's quite a good grammar here: http://oahpa.no/sme/gramm/grammatihkka.eng.html
When I needed to know something about the pronunciation for work purposes I found the English Wikipedia page quite comprehensive, and there's another list of resources at the end of it too.
Good luck with your learning, and fair play to you for supporting this minority language.
I just finished my exam period so my Sami hasn't been going anywhere recently. But from now on I will have more free time so I'll be able to study it more ^^
And thanks again for your help :)
