In my opinion, if you already know how to speak basic Tagalog, it won't take long to undergo lessons. But if you are not familiar yet with Tagalog language it will takes years to study. The most important is having daily conversation practice.

Yes that's true. Having conversation with a native Filipino is the best way to practice your Tagalog speaking skill.
