I do believe the ''holy" ceases to be when it is alterated by humans because.... it is a divine attribute! I also think the holy things are invisible! Love, for example ! :)

Sacred as in "Something that mustn't be allowed to be harmed even on peril of death" ? or "something of which the destruction would cause permanent moral/spiritual harm to the one considering it sacred" ? Either way I don't think there is anything for which any of these definitions apply.
