It's differente for each person, but praticing with a native is the key. By reading you learn some words and improve your ability to understand, but you don't learn how to talk or how to creat sentences. Same with watching Tv or listening to music.

The best way, find somebody who likes the same things that you. Now you read, watch Tv, listeng to music, study grammar, etc. And talk with him/her about that, about your doubts, etc.

Te recomiendo ver peliculas en español latino. Es la mejor opcion para acostumbrarte a escucharlo primero. This is the best way for me to learn English ;)
