I don't remember when the last time was when I wrote down stuff in English. I found myself being confused with spelling the words 'independent' and 'essential' just now. I haven't been using English actively for several months now, and I am surprised that the ability seems to have gone down a little, even though I had felt confident or arrogant about it. It's scary that it is "use it or lose it." I wish I could read in English as fast as native speakers. I would like to read in English, but it takes me a long time, I feel agitated.

I don't remember <s>when</s> the last time <s>was when</s> I wrote <s>down stuff</s> in English. I found myself being confused* when spelling the words 'independent' and 'essential' just now. I haven't used English actively for several months now, and I am surprised that my ability seems to have gone down a little, even though I had felt confident or arrogant** about it. Languages are scary because if you don't "use it," you "lose it." I wish I could read in English as fast as native speakers can. I would like to read in English, but it takes me a long time. Afterwards, I feel agitated.
*Better is "I was confused"
**Arrogant has a strong negative connotation and is usually used to talk about someone. That being said, it is not wrong here.
