My language exchange experience On last weekend, I decided to take one step further to attain another milestone of self revelation. Although, it wasn’t an easy task for me but fortunately I have almost two dozen language exchange partners on Skype to whom I already had few chat sessions. So I decided to talk to them using Skype voice chat. I set my mood status to “Available for voice chat” on Skype so that all my contacts could know about it. I was hardly hoping for anyone to contact me but to my surprise! Eight people showed their interest and made a call on Skype. Few of them were interested in practicing spoken English and others wanted to learn the Urdu language. Initially, it was quite difficult for me to speak and understand their accents because they were from different countries and speaks different languages. But after communicating with first two callers, my ears and tong get used to it and I was on my way to produce the sentences and to convert the talk into meaningful conversation. This was the wonderful experience of my life, experience of not only crossing the fear barrier once again but also being able to communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds. Now! I’m planning to go further to achieve the next milestone of self revelation and decided to continue this practice on alternate weekends or whenever I get free time.
