The Pyramid This is a review from a book I've read recently. The Pyramid by Henning Mankell The Pyramid is set in Ystad, South of Sweden, on 1989 Christmas time. In the novel, Inspector Kurt Wallander and his colleagues are working on solving two double murders and another one with just one victim. The most complicated issue was to find the connection existent between them. It seemed inexplicable until Wallander got an idea in his travel to Egypt when he saw the Pyramids. I was fascinated by the vivid descriptions of both countries which are absolutely different from one another. I also was completely intrigued by the plot. Who want to assassinate two old ladies in a sewing shop? Why did an illegal light aircraft crash? Why did the main suspicious appear murdered in the forest? Three questions that needed to be answered to arrest the right person. The novel is specially focused in the main character, Kurt Wallander. He is a just divorced man whose life is a bit chaotic due to his unhealthy habits. In contrast, at work, he investigates every case accurately; this along with his intuition makes him an excellent inspector. If you enjoy reading crime novels, you will really love this book where action never stops. The way in which the author wrote it keeps the tension and the intrigue until the end so it will haunt you. Therefore, you will be transported into a research atmosphere where the hints will lead you to the solution.
