Thanks a lot!!

Hello, Karol! "To do" can be associated with accomplishing a task. For example, I can say, "I have to do the laundry" or "I need to do homework". In order for the task to be accomplished, you need "to do" it. "To make" can be associated with actually making something. For example, "I need to make dinner". In order for dinner to be served, you need to make it. In order for dinner to exist, you need to make it. When do you know when to use either verb? Let's test both verbs in this simple sentence: "I need to wash the dishes." Washing the dishes is obviously a task, so you can say, "I need to do the dishes". However, it wouldn't make any sense to say, "I need to make the dishes," because you are trying to wash the dishes, not "make" them. This is an excellent question! I hope I answered it. :)

1. I use "make" to speak about something hand-made (if you can see what I mean) - e.g to make a model, to make a cake etc. 2. As a synonym to " force" e.g. He made me stay at home. 3. As somewhat similar to "provoke" or "cause" e.g He made me cry, it makes me happy etc 4. Stephanie is right: the verbs are quite idiomatic. I often use this dictionary to check things=) http://oald8.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/dictionary/make

They are very idiomatic. It is best and maybe easiest to learn them with the idioms and expressions they are most commonly used with. For example, we do our homework, we make our beds, we make dinner, but we do yoga.. etc.. a good dictionary should help you with the most common ones. Or you can get a special dictionary just for idioms.
