Saying/Telling

What is the difference between saying and telling? When can do you use iteither?
Thank you¡

I think you intended this to be a question and not a notebook entry, so here's a little guidance. Overall though, this is a very broad topic and I don't think it's possible to detail all the nuances in any given response.

Tell: When referring to giving commands, instructions, or imperatives; needs an indirect object.

Ex: I told her to meet me at the train station. I told the children to eat their vegetables.

Say: "Decir"/an indication used with a noun "thing" (not a person) or a dependent clause.

Ex: I said something (that) I shouldn't have. The children said (that) they waren't hungry.

Say

Con “tell” no ponemos “to”.

“He said to me”  Él me dijo.

" He always says to you.  Él siempre te dice.

Tell

Con “say” si ponemos “to”.

He told me.  “Él me dijo o me contó.”

He always tells me. Él siempre me dice.
