The meaning of "11.11" in China

Several years ago, november 11--11.11 meant singles' day. Many singles went out to celebrate their own holiday and many activities were held in 11.11, like ten mins on a date. If you were lucky enough, you would find a bf or gf(By the way, I took part in many times but it didn't work for me).
Nowdays, the 11.11 has already become a mean of promotion(especially Taobao),because they say many commodities will discount on 11.11.But actually a part of the commodities look like discounting because their prime cost is increased. So sharpen your eyes before you enter the password of your Alipay.

But , in reality , some of these products that have discounted prices are not really dicounted at all because their retail prices have been marked up . So, be sharp-eyed / shapen your eyes( not sure if this idiom is correct even though meaning is clear) before you enter your pw on Alipay
