What does ノリでmean? Recently, I was speaking to a Japanese friend of mine. He was saying that 外国人の女の子はノリで話せる。 I understand most of the sentence, but what does ノリで mean? Is it a slang word?

So, maybe it means something along the line of 'easy to get in the mood for...' I think? Thank you for the answers Minami san and Noriko san :)

Hiya! As Noriko san said, ノリがいい is commonly used Japanese expression. ノリのいい音楽→groovy music. ノリの悪い人→someone turned off. I guess it means slightly different when you say "ノリで...する" I personally hear many young Japanese people say "ノリで." It means that you do something, reading between the line(we say 空気を読むin Japanese), or going with the flow. For example, A:"なんでそんな高いバッグ買ったの?" B:"まぁ...ノリで(^_^;)" So, I guess what he meant is that he can talk with foreign girls, just going with the flow. I'm not sure but perhaps he thinks too much when he speaks to Japanese girls in Japanese. I hope someone will answer this question more clearly ><

ノリで means ノリがいい in Japanese. 外国人の女の子は、話のノリがいい。has same meaning. It means “foreign girls are always willing (ready) to enjoy talking(doing)” 踊りのノリがいい means “ready to enjoy dancing”. This is my opinion.Do you understand?
