Self-introduction

I've started using "italki" because I want to improve my English skills.
If there are any mistakes in my post, please let me know.

This is my first time to write writing an entry on a notebook, so I want to introduce myself.
I'm a (1) university student in Japan.
I've lived in Japan all my life and have never been abroad. I'm thinking of going abroad for a trip during the next summer vacation, though.
I've been studying English voluntarily for about a year. I'm using the textbook (2) "Grammar in Use Intermediate".This version is for learners who want to learn American English. There are many versions of this book, but I chose this one because in Japan, we mainly learn American English in school and I'm used to American English.
Now I'm looking for other textbooks / another textbook (3) in order to improve my listening and speaking skills. I'm going to use them after finishing "Grammar in Use Intermediate". If you know of any books that you highly recommend, please tell me.

A warm welcome to the Italki community. Thank you for your self-introduction and you write well.

Just a few suggestions for you:

(1) You are a university student. The first syllable of the pronunciation of the word "university" is "yoo". "yoo-nuh-vur-si-tee". It is not a vowel sound. Therefore, we use the article "a".

(2) "Textbook is a compound noun. It should be one word, not two separate words.

(3) "Another" is a pronoun used to refer to a singular noun.

As this is my first time to write a notebook entry, I would like to introduce myself. I'm a university student in Japan. I've lived in Japan all my life and never been abroad. I'm thinking of going abroad for a trip during the next Summer vacation, though. I've been studying English voluntarily for about a year. I'm using the textbook "Grammar in Use - Intermediate". This version is for learners who want to learn American English. There are many versions of this book, but I chose this one because in Japan we mainly learn American English in school and I'm accustomed to American English (<font style="background-color: rgb(239, 239, 239);">used to is more for suitable in spoken English</font>). Now, I'm looking for another text book<font style="background-color: rgb(239, 239, 239);"> (or - other textbooks)</font> in order to improve my listening and speaking skills. I'm going to use them after finishing the current one.If you know any books that you highly recommend, please let me know.

 

<font style="background-color: rgb(239, 239, 239);">Don't start a new sentence for each line, just continue on, with paragraphs separating the ideas.  Somebody pointed out that this practice was prevalent among people from Japan, but I don't think anyone answered clearly why. Do you know?</font>
