A Lady who Loved Cat While walking along a canal, I saw a lady feeding alley cats. She reminded me of a lady that I served when I was a student. She was a rich person who owned several buildings in a busy district known as "GInza" in Tokyo. My main task was to guid the guests as an usher in Ginza Noh theater owned by her. As knowing that I was a pupil of a Noh master, she often let me watch the performances in spare moments from my task, so I was fond of that part-time job. I used to do chores when I did not work as an usher. From time to time, in obscure alleys, I walked following her to help her feeding cats. She did not have family, and what she loved was cat. She feeded alley cats every day. One winter dusk, in front of a back entrance of a restaurant, she looked back at me, so I handed her some homemade cat food wrapped in aluminum foil. As soon as she put the cat food onto the alley, the door opened suddenly and a cook came out. The cook grasped her arm while saying "Don't leave cat food here!" At that time, I had to help her, but I was so surprised that I was not able to move.
