What is the difference between conflicted and ambivalent?
Some individuals might feel conflicted/ambivalent about plastic surgery.
I like the red dress and the purple dress equally but my budget is limited, so I can afford only one of them. I really can't choose. I am too conflicted/ambivalent. (I think feeling torn between the two would be the most natural phrase here.)
There are an increasing number of people who feel ambivalent/conflicted about having children.

‘Conflicted’ suggests strong feelings and opinions whereas ‘ambivalence’ suggests indifference.
It would be natural to be conflicted about having children because it’s an important choice with long term consequences.
Being ambivalent about what color dress to buy is also natural. It’s not that important and you don’t have strong reasons that create an internal conflict.

When you're "conflicted," it means you're stuck between two choices or feelings that are pulling you in different directions. It's like wanting to go out with friends but also wanting to stay home and relax. You're having a hard time deciding because both options sound attractive to you.
When you're "ambivalent," you have mixed feelings about something or someone at the same time. It's like having a friend who is lots of fun but unreliable. You like them and are annoyed by them at the same time, but it doesn't necessarily make you feel torn or stressed.
In Short
Conflicted: You're stuck between two strong options or feelings, making it hard to decide.
Ambivalent: You have mixed feelings about something or someone at the same time, but you're not necessarily torn about it.
Hope that helps!
