What's the difference between conservation and preservation?

The words are related, but there is a difference that people often miss.
Conserve = to use up something more slowly
Preserve = to protect and maintain something
Even though we often talk about "conserving" natural resources, we should really be "preserving" natural resources.
Good luck!

Both these words relate to nature and the protection of it but in differing ways. They are often mistaken as meaning the same thing. However, they are not interchangeable.
Conservation means humans use of nature in a responsible and respectable manner.
Preservation means protecting nature from human use ensuring it remains in its natural state.
Hope this helps..

Wow! That's a hard question, but there are so similar. They both mean protection/saving.
I think of conservation as the protection of natural things such as land, parks, natural resources, animals etc
I think of preservation as protecting (or saving for later) other sorts of things: pictures, cultures, buildings, food, landmarks, heritage, language, etc
Preserve is more of saving it for later use/enjoyment and Conserve is more of reducing the amount used/impacted.
There's a good chance you'll hear them used wrong/interchangeably often. For example, many people say "I'm conserving my energy." Technically they mean "I'm preserving my energy." But they don't say it the "right" way, but everyone knows what they mean.

conservation is usually used when referring to the protection of natural resources through responsible use of the resources.
preservation is usually used when referring to the protection of buildings, objects, and landscapes. this one would mean ensuring that the environment is not harmed by human activities such as pollution.
