In modern parlance, a date is linked to a hopefully romantic encounter between most commonly two people who want to become more familliar with each other. It isn't in any way gender specific, certainly not according to the heart. An Appointment can be regarded in term of being required in order to move forward some kind of process involving two or more parties. Like having a tooth repaired or meeting your therapist for some altogether useful servicing of the mind. Again, neither are gender dependent upon each other in the mind of the enlightened.
