I really wonder in question 12, A or C which one is correct.

“Many items” refers to a large quantity, which could also be correct in this sentence.
Why not B or D?

I agree with Shahd. If you HAVE to choose between A and C, you should probably choose C. The sentence says the person saved A LOT of money, so that might imply they bought many things.
