How do you use trigger? As far as I'm concerned, it's mostly used to cause something negative. Could it be used in a positive way? Like, Meeting my English became a trigger for me to start studying grammer. Does it sound natural?

‘Trigger’ is most often negative (but doesn’t have to be) and most often used as a verb. The elevator ride triggered a panic attack. Their bankruptcy was triggered by the pandemic restrictions. Your example isn’t good. It’s not clear what you mean. A ‘trigger’ is something that happens. My failing test result was a trigger to finally concentrate on learning some points of French grammar that I had neglected. When I had a problem with my train ticket I asked people for help but no one understood a word that I said. That incident triggered my efforts to improve my pronunciation.

Hello Yusuke! 😊 Yes it can be used in a positive way. For example, The sound of the rain triggered childhood memories of me playing in the rain. Hope that helps! 😊
