Does anyone like Korean rapper Swings here? One of the most famous Korean hip-hop artists himself, Swings is often, either unwillingly or willingly, at the center of controversy for his gestures, remarks and lyrics. Accordingly, Korean hip-hop fans have divided opinions about him; some simply peg him as an attention seeker, while others say he is a great artist. Though this topic is pretty interesting, what I want to talk about today is his song called "Are You Listening?," an emotional medium-tempo track embellished with sorrowful guitar riffs. In this track, Swings composedly raps about the memories he has with his ex-girlfriend in a cheeky yet regretful tone; he hopes her boyfriend is a jerk so that she can come back because he is still "obsessed with" her love, which he didn't appreciate before. He even begs her to come back if she's listening to this song, for his arms are always open for her. 😟 Not only does this track deliver a message many people can empathize with, but it also shows a different side of Swings, a rapper who's known for his macho persona.
