It sounds like they are researching players on the internet, or on a database. To "pull up" a player in this context means to look at his particular entry in the database. (In the old days, you would say, "I am going to pull his file," meaning I am going to take his file off of the shelf where files are kept and look at it. You would literally pull it off of the shelf.)
