How can surnames be made plural? Is that right to say the Sanchez or the Sanchezes?
Can you give some other examples? The Smith, the Smithses? If both are acceptable which one in more common?
I have heard a non native saying "the Sanchezes" and it sounded weird for me.

Surnames are proper nouns like country or city names so you can't attach plurals to them like new york, sydney. you can never say new yorkes or new yorks similarly you never say smithes.

They become plural like everything else. Smith becomes Smiths. Jefferson becomes Jeffersons. Sanchezes sounds normal to me.
