What does "back-hair" mean?
Please help me to understand this sentence (from the novel "The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club" (1837), Ch. Dickens ):
Standing before the dressing-glass was a middle-aged lady, in yellow curl-papers, busily engaged in brushing what ladies call their ‘back-hair.’

In this context, i would think that 'back-hair' means 'the hair that grows past the shoulders and down to a person's back'. It was common for people to grow their hair long in these days! :)
