A savanna is grassland with coarse grasses and scattered trees. A prairie is a tract of grassland without trees. Savannas and prairies are included in the same biome called "Temperate grasslands, savannas, and shrublands." The Pampas (note: proper noun), an ecoregion of this biome, are temperate grasslands in South America.
