Meaning of to have a blast!
Hi everybody! What does it mean the phrase "I had a blast"? The context is a man took part in a very important event. I know that a blast could also mean a party with alcohol but in this case that's inadmissible. I suppose he was going to put in words how thrilling the contest was, how much emotions he had and so on. But I didn't find the resembling translation in my dictionary. Thank you in advance.

You could just as well say "Have a great time!"
It is usually said about parties or activities where you would expect to have a very good, noisy time or a very rewarding, memorable one (or both).
It does not necessarily imply drinking, but it would definitely be used at parties where a lot of noise and uninhibitied acitivies were going to take place.
However, it can just as well be used at an activity that you would have some excitement and fun - it doesn't have to mean drinking are acting foolishly.

It means someone had a very good time. Not always alcohol involved or related to a party. You can have a blast at the movies; a seminar; a date etc. etc.
