Does chinese have an alphabet? My ELA teacher and I had a debate on the chinese alphabet, I said "it doesn't have an alphabet" and she said "every language has an alphabet" and I was like "it's a tonal language, it doesn't have an alphabet." Does chinese really not have an alphabet?

Hanzi is a logographic writing system, therefore it has nothing to do with alphabet, right? What do you people mean by saying that Chinese has an alphabet? Pinyin? It's used to transcribe Chinese, not to actually write it. On the other hand, I know that you use some foreign words and proper names in their original form when writing Chinese, or even write some Chinese words using latin alphabet (like 逼 in 牛B). If this is what you meant, then I agree that modern Chinese does use (~has) an alphabet.

"alphabet" 一字 應用在描述漢語時的定義為何? 等同西方拼音語言之 "字母"嗎? 設若中國共產黨搞漢語拉丁化成功 則以上敘述成立 ! 雞同鴨講的問題 諸君慎思明辨 諸位切莫混淆視聽 遺患後學好學者!

the chinese pinyin system for pronunciation does use A-Z however there is no V in pinyin. it does have ü. and there is zhuyin for example b p m f is ㄅ玻 ㄆ坡 ㄇ摸 ㄈ佛. but it's easier to use pinyin.
