A crucifixion describes the act of nailing or hanging a person on a cross to die slowly and painfully. 'The' crucifixion specifically refers to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. A crucifix is a model or image of Jesus Christ on the cross. It is usually hung on walls or suspended. It can also refer to just a cross as a representation of Christ's crucifixion.
