ASK : ni hao ? (how do you do) - ANSWER : Hen hao (i'm very good)
Wo ce tau ( I know ), Wo ming pai ( I understand ). Xie xie (Thank you).

i suppose it would be 我不知道.means i dunno..
and youth like to use 晕(DIZZY)囧(VOID)....

about 5 years before, we always say "吃了吗?" when we meet and it means " have you eaten?". that's because many chinese work so hard that sometime they would forget to eat.
while, now, we use "你好"more.
like Rosamund du said, we don't ask too much about others because something like age and salary are considered to be private now. So we don't care much about oters, including "吃了吗?"。

Nin Hao means "How do you do ?"
Wo hen hao means "I am fine"
Xie Xie means "Thank You"
Zao shang hao means "Good morning"
Zai jian means "Goodbye"

In the majority situations is the greetings and the inquiry language and some care language, where for instance goes to? Has eaten meal? Hello! The body? The weather is cold, puts on clothes! the ~~~~~ China is nation of the etiquette, knew mutually the human met generally has been able initiative and opposite party greets
